Let’s Talk: White/Real Vision. Where is He?

Let's Talk

Now, I addressed this slightly in the WandaVision Episode 9 post, but I think enough of us are still trying to figure it out that it needs its own post all together.

So, to begin, we have to remember that White Vision is the Vision we have seen since Avengers: Age of Ultron, just without any emotions. Another thing to remember is that he now has all his memories, meaning he knows all of the Avengers with whom he was in contact with during his lifetime.

After his memories are given back to him, we just about never see White Vision again. He is comic book canon, therefore there are various roadmaps of where they may take his character, but the real question is where is he right NOW.

I believe he is likely searching for answers about himself, and to do that he is going back to those who understand him the most. This includes Tony, Bruce, and Shuri, although of course Tony is no longer available for him to talk to. Of the remaining original six, Bruce is up in air about where he is going to place within the next phase of Marvel, so it is very possible that Vision may go searching for him and this could therefore give Bruce more of a purpose, especially in his scientific field, in the future. Shuri, on the hand, is a complicated answer due to the possibility that she will now take the Black Panther mantle due to the unforeseen and terrible circumstance of Chadwick’s death. Due to this, adding White Vision into the mix may complicate an already complicated storyline due to the need to now shift the entire focus of the second Black Panther.

Of course, other Avengers have impacted Vision’s life as well, including Cap, although he is out of commission as well. Thor may be another option, but once again, he will be busy with Thor: Love and Thunder that I am very unsure where they would try and fit a storyline with White Vision in.

Now, another option, which I really don’t know how this would work, may be he goes for Wanda, therefore meaning he will be appearing in the next Dr. Strange. This movie is already going to be absolutely loaded due to the Multiverse, therefore his appearance in this film might be too much at once. However, if Wanda is going to be the villain in this movie, whether or not Vision has emotion, he has all of the memories to know Wanda is a good person. He also would likely be the only person (thing?) that would snap her out of whatever she is about to fall into after reading the Darkhold. On the reverse side, Wanda created the Vision in the Hex from the part of the mind stone inside her, so it may be possible that she can give White Vision his missing piece and bring his emotions back. I do think, regardless of whatever happens here, if it even happens, the relationship between Vision and Wanda will no longer continue. She has moved on and has spent her time grieving and I think a main focus will now be her kids, not Vision.

What needs to be acknowledged is that because he is comic canon, White Vision will likely be around for a little before they fix him, if at all. At this point, he can very easily still be a helpful Avenger. Of course, due to the ability to be programmed as Hayward did, it also means he can become a weapon if the wrong hands get to him again. But regardless, we may never actually see our old Vision again and his current whereabouts can be something of concern. If he really wants answers, and I am sorry for saying this, the person/thing with the most answers is Ultron. The way that Ultron invades the web makes it very difficult for us to know if he truly has been completely defeated. They are essentially brothers, or a weird form of father/son since Vision’s body was initially for Ultron. I will say, the issue with this theory is that as great as Ultron would be if he was back, Marvel is moving further and further away from this type of on the ground battle and more towards the mystical and cosmic. This would likely be seen as a step backwards, but would still be interesting and pretty shocking if it happened.

I do think our best bet is that Vision will end up finding his way back to Wanda, since his current knowledge relies mainly on her. It is also possible this won’t happen for awhile and he may be missing from the next few installments in the MCU. I bet our first glimpse of him actually won’t be until an end credit scene, which will catapult is into a new direction with the character.

One last thing I would like to leave everyone to think about deals with the comic book path of White Vision. While we know Marvel doesn’t always follow everything, this might just be something to chew on before we see White Vision appear again. In the comics, White Vision at one point actually swaps places with a Vision from another Earth in the Multiverse. This “Anti-Vision” is the usual colors of Vision and when he swaps with White Vision, White Vision (aka still our Vision, I know this is a lot), returns to his true form and defeats the Anti-Vision. While I know we already saw some Vision vs Vision action in WandaVision, this would be a possible route to take if Marvel wanted to eventually return Vision back to his old form. Does this explain where he is now? No, not at all, but remember this comic book story involves the Multiverse, something that we are inching closer to. Things with the White Vision will take time, as I said, so we are going to have to sit back and wait for a little while until he either pops up in someone’s movie, or in an end credit scene.

I hope you enjoyed this little food for thought. As always, feel free to comment any of your own thoughts on this post or possible theories of your own. You can also always message me directly with thoughts or other possible theories you want me to touch on. While this week off was definitely rough, I hope everyone is ready for a little bit of a more lighthearted direction when The Falcon and the Winter Soldier premieres next week. As a Bucky fan myself, I have been anticipating this moment for awhile, so I want to warn you all of some future fangirling in next week’s post. Be sure to watch it and come back here ready to share your thoughts next week!
