WandaVision Episode 9

WandaVision

I am greatly disappointed with this season finale, I won’t lie to you.

As someone who is passionate about both Wanda and this TV show, everything that is created, it tore down in this final episode. Even the end credit scenes did nothing for me, but let me get into some details .

To begin, the one thing I loved was Wanda’s full costume. We finally see her in it as more than a Halloween costume and it is beautiful. But personally, this is really the only winning thing from this episode.

No Mephisto, no Ultron, no Quicksilver now, no Dr. Strange, and no Fantastic Four. Granted these were all fan theories that I think we all respectively ran with, but even one of these would have been really cool. But what is Marvel without various theories and being wrong about them again and again? Keeps us on our toes.

Before I get into some bigger theories from this season finale, let me first talk about how cheated I feel about the Evan Peters Pietro situation. Did they really write off him being Pietro in a thirty second little clip that included a crude joke and then never touched base again? Dear God I don’t think so, but I don’t know many things right now. For one, his name being Ralph ties back to the very beginning, with Agatha’s husband always being referred to as Ralph. This means he had been present in the Hex from the start. But then what? Yes he was under Agatha’s control, but how did she manage to give him whole powers and just about make him a mutant? If we want to run with this still being the Multiverse version of Pietro (which hopefully it is or Marvel really just wasted Evan Peters), then it’s possible he’s playing a part of a part, kinda. An idea my sister introduced was that maybe he is Multiverse Quicksilver, just in the Hex with a new personality as Ralph, but then playing the part on top of that that Agatha’s control put on him. Confusing, yes, but not impossible. This would keep the Multiverse dream alive or we are simply grasping at straws, you tell me. Another possibility is that Pietro was the person in protective custody that Jimmy brings up in episode four, but once again this could simply be grasping for straws. Maybe Marvel really did troll us. Don’t worry the Multiverse is coming I swear, but who knows when, exactly, anymore.

Regardless, Agatha continuously told Scarlet Witch that she unleashed something and it would be super interesting if that Chthon, except he’s quite a strange character so who knows. If it is him, it would be likely he would be part of the new Dr. Strange movie, which Wanda will appear in next. Our dreams of Mephisto are momentarily slashed but I do believe he will appear somewhere down the road.

Now the biggest thing to get out of this is that final end credit scene. Wanda is astral projecting, something that only one other character has been seen doing: Dr. Strange. But she also is reading the Darkhold, a very powerful and dark book that holds information of Wanda’s power. She is now more powerful than Dr. Strange himself and so we need to hope she stays on the good side versus the evil. Something to note is we also hear her kids calling out to her in this time, meaning that her children (who we never see actually disappear when the Hex falls), are alive somewhere. Where, however, is the big question. It is very possible the quest to find her children will play a part in how Wanda ends of in Dr. Strange 2 and on whether or not she will remain on our hero’s sides or flip. It is very possible that her children either are with Mephisto (please don’t hate me for bringing him up again) or in the Multiverse (cue Dr. Strange 2). The Darkhold is also the kind of book that many will come looking for, so Wanda will likely not be alone for too long. This is what we are to understand as the lead into the new Dr. Strange, but we have very little information on where exactly Wanda is going to fit and what that movie will encompass. Many of the ideas that were thought and rumored to appear in the second Dr. Strange crumbled during the season finale of WandaVision.

Now, one other very important topic is our missing Vision. Westview Vision gave White Vision back his memories and then he dipped. But to be fair, White Vision, or real Vision, has no ability to feel any sort of emotions. Where he may have gone is really up in the air, considering he no longer serves a particular side. With his memories back, he may seek other familiar faces that can help him further. Since Tony is dead, this could be Bruce or Shuri. Or it could literally be no one. White Vision cannot be assumed to act in a normal Vision manor and therefore he could go anywhere and simply try to disappear. Obviously this won’t be the end of Vision and it is going to be interesting where else he comes into play further down the road.

Darcy hit Hayward with a truck and dipped, which we loved and was another great plus to this episode. The future of Darcy is unknown, but with the fourth Thor coming out in the future, it is very possible we will see her reappear there, especially since Jane is back.

Monica, as a superhero herself now, is seen in the mid-credit scene, being approached by a Skrull, who of course had been disguised. She invites Wanda up into space and refers to a male when talking about who sent her. Of course, we know this to be Fury after watching the end credit scene in Far From Home, but it also sets up Monica’s role in either Secret Invasion or the next Captain Marvel.

Since Marvel wrapped this show up in a relatively nice little bow, there aren’t various theories that come from the ending of it. Many of the main characters are expected to return in other works, but the big next step will be in Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Next week will be strange due to not having a new episode of anything, but following that we will see the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. There isn’t much information on where this will fit into the timeline or what it will lead into, but it looks like a nice comedic relief from some of the intensity that we saw in WandaVision. Unfortunately, WandaVision’s season finale didn’t exactly thrill me, but I hope each of you enjoyed it and are thinking of your own theories. If you do come up with your own theories or have some thoughts on some of mine, comment down below or reach out to me directly. Also, don’t forget to subscribe if you enjoy reading these blogs and send me any future theory ideas or topics you want me to cover. WandaVision Episode 8

WandaVision

If your heart didn’t break during this episode, I don’t know what to tell you.

I want to begin by saying, as someone who adores Wanda and who is one of her biggest fans, I am so so happy that she isn’t as terrible as this entire show tried to make her out to be (also screw Hayward I have some choice words for him). While in the comics Wanda can rotate between good and bad, and while I will still stand behind her through whatever happens, this poor girl has been GRIEVING. As we saw in this episode, all she wanted was to bury her lover’s body and she truly did create the Hex out of pure accident. But as much as I love and adore Wanda and the fact she is not the villain every thing kept making her out to be, let’s get down to some of the real dirt in this episode.

Now this episode really acted as Wanda’s backstory, something we haven’t gotten and therefore we can officially consider this her origin ‘movie’. This episode also confirmed, though, that we likely won’t ever see Aaron Taylor Johnson back as Pietro unless he comes in as part of the Multiverse. But Wanda is officially the Scarlet Witch! So I consider this a win, but also a turning point. She will be the focus of Phase 4 and it is only beginning.

Let’s start with breaking down some of the key players who we didn’t see this episode. Vision, or at least Westview Vision, has been suspiciously flying back home for awhile. But the fact we even have to make a distinction brings us to likely the most important part of this episode. One, Wanda didn’t steal his body and reanimate it, which is definitely a creepy weight off our shoulders. But two, Vision (the OG) has been reanimated officially by Hayward (I really hate this guy). Now my thoughts on White Vision are that I think he is going to be Ultron. Just follow along and hear my out, because I get it we’ve been there and done that with Ultron already. However, the hints and remarks towards things we’ve seen in AOU in WandaVision are too obvious to ignore. Not to mention, if you want to look at it yourself, go check out who’s in the cast of WandaVision on Google. Lastly, we need to remember that Vision’s body was originally supposed to be Ultron’s new form, but the Avengers took it from him and then made Vision himself. Ultron himself also reiterated how he was everywhere and all he needed was to survive in one small form to be able to live. Not to mention, in the first episode, Hayward makes a remark about protecting the world, a mission Ultron sort of had until he decided the only way to save it was to just about destroy it.

We also don’t see our believed fake Pietro in this episode, who luckily we found out was being controlled by Agatha. This not only means that the Multiverse is still a prevalent arc, but also I don’t have to hate Evan Peters because he isn’t purposefully the bad guy. Last we saw him, he was with Monica, who also was missing from this episode. So this means we have Pietro, Monica, Wanda, Agatha, and two Visions to look out for in a massive battle scene. This doesn’t even consider the possible new players, one of which I still stand behind being Dr. Strange.

Now let’s talk about the whole Mephisto thing. I will continue to stand by Agatha not being the big bad of this show, but I’m not sure if Mephisto is. I think he is the big bad of much, much more and Marvel wanted us to think and consider him so that he was on the radar in the future. He plays many roles in the comics and, while the MCU doesn’t do exactly as the comics, they are great outlines for what may be coming. I won’t continue to point fingers towards who might be Mephisto, but I will still say he is coming somewhere down the road.

Speaking of Agatha, gotta love the villain. Her magic being purple and her not aging for four hundred years speaks to dark magic, once again tying this episode to the possible appearance and connection to Dr. Strange. Let’s see, we have a ton of magic, including dark magic, and the Multiverse, sounds pretty Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness if you ask me.

With the final battle coming in the season finale, I want to discuss our most important character, which is Wanda. Once again, yay she didn’t steal a corpse! Wanda quite literally split her soul in half to create this new version of Vision, which is powered by her powers and therefore explains why he was falling apart upon leaving the Hex. However, because he is powered by her magic, which partially comes from the soul stone and the other part seemingly being in her already (mutant?) before Hydra experimentation, he appears to have his usual powers from before his death, including the power of the stone itself. This comes down to what Agatha calls chaos magic, which seems to be what comes with the title of the Scarlet Witch, bestowed upon Wanda officially in this episode, but first when the stone seemingly chose her. Now the theories run either that it was future Wanda in the stone or that it was the spirit/power of the trapped Scarlet Witch. I think that a version of the Scarlet Witch may have lost a battle to Agatha and ended up trapped in the stone by her, but Wanda was then chosen to take the mantle and become the more powerful version of Scarlet Witch. Agatha seemed desperate to reach her conclusion about Wanda, and I think what makes Wanda especially dangerous is that a lot of power’s strength comes from her emotions, therefore making her nuclear at various moments. We see this with the Hex creation, Wanda feeling limitless pain accidentally creating an entire new reality where she initially cannot be hurt. She attempts to give everyone in town a better life and unfortunately, doesn’t realize her grief is hurting them instead. Power such as hers is a formidable match and it will be intriguing to see what or who comes to match it, since I don’t think Agatha has it in her.

My final thoughts come with the Nexus, which is where multiple realities (multiverses) collide. The Hex has become a Nexus and therefore I think this is how the Spidermen and possibly other mutants come into play. There are various ways the Nexus can fit into things, but keep in mind the Nexus in AOU had to deal with the internet where they were concerned Ultron would hide. I hate to say it, but this isn’t a coincidence.

My best recommendation from this episode to you all is to rewatch Age of Ultron before next week’s season finale. Other than that, I wish everyone the best of luck coping with this episode and with the fact we have to wait until next Friday to (hopefully) get some answers. The anxiety is definitely running high that is for sure. As always comment your thoughts or message me if you want me to directly touch on something specific or go more in depth about a topic. See everyone next week for the conclusion of WandaVision.

WandaVision Episode 7

WandaVision

This episode answered so many questions, yet so little at the same time, so let’s break it down.

Let’s start with the obvious. Agnes is Agatha Harkness, something just about every Marvel fan was able to deduce within the first episode or two. However, it being such a blatant reveal doesn’t quite sit right with me. There’s more to come from this, not just from Agatha, but also that she is likely still not our main villain in the show. Do I think she might have maybe killed the kids or gave them away to be killed? Yes, probably, but we all also knew that was likely the twin’s destiny. There were also too many weird things happening that Wanda knew nothing about, so I would love to say that I was actually right about this theory and about the fact that Wanda did not have full control of the Hex. However, this also needs to be a concern. If we continue to hope Wanda is going to come out of this good, then we need to address that the relief of knowing she may not have created EVERYTHING needs to also be a fear. Wanda is powerful, but a witch is also a powerful foe and right now the manipulation of reality is being played with by both of them.

Another obvious outcome of the episode was Monica becoming Photon (she goes by various names but until the show clarifies I will refer to her like this). We saw this hinted at us already last episode when Darcy talked about how Monica’s cells were being changed by going through the Hex. So far, this isn’t the most important thing to talk about either, and it was also another piece of information fans were beginning to put together.

Pretty much our main two fully answered questions were ones that, as fans, we were already fairly certain about. So instead let’s move into the more interesting ideas and possible theories of this episode.

First, Quicksilver. Barely seen in this episode, we see him being ‘controlled’ by our great friend Agatha during her lovely song about how she has been responsible for everything weird happening. Now, Marvel makes no mistakes, so I still solidly stand behind him being Multiverse Pietro and from the X-Men movies, but I truly don’t know if Wanda or Agatha brought him there. Either way, Agatha has clearly been controlling him, which makes a lot of sense for how sketchy he was last episode. I really hope everyone stuck around for the credits because we got our first end-credit scene! Here we see Monica discovering the basement that Agatha and Wanda are in and Pietro sneaks up on her. A few things to note, if he is still under Agatha’s control, he’s on her side and we should take this as a bad sign for Monica. However, if he isn’t, he may be able to help her. Also, keep in mind Vision is on his way back home, where he won’t find his wife or children, so help either way will be on the way.

Hear me out, but THE FLY.

The importance of this fly could be as important as the rodent in Endgame. The fly might be our very lovely friend Mephisto. Now I know, myself, along with every other Marvel fan, has been calling just about everyone under the sun Mephisto since, what, I guess the 70s era? But this time, I swear, we might actually be onto something. I want to move back to my original theory about Agatha’s missing husband Ralph and how we have never seen him. Well, I would hate to state the obvious but we wouldn’t see a fly. But this isn’t even the important part, this is just me thinking out loud. The important part is that in the comics, Mephisto first appears as a fly. Don’t believe me? Look it up.

Once again. Marvel makes no mistakes and doesn’t do coincidences.

It was highly unlikely that we were going to see the twins and not have a Mephisto storyline because even if Marvel doesn’t do everything exactly comic book canon, this storyline is just sitting there waiting to slap you in the face. I’m not sure how else they would include the twins without also having their downfall to Mephisto. They are also kind of impossible children but of course, that’s beside the point.

Now Vision’s storyline here had nothing super important to it, but I am glad to know he snapped Darcy out of the mind control. Keep in mind that right now we have a lot of different sides coming together in what will likely be a fight of magic and power. Darcy and Monica are the two that directly come from outside of the Hex and have the most knowledge of the Hex from the other side. Vision has a warped memory that has had holes filled in by Darcy, but him and Wanda are on strange terms at the time. We also have Wanda, who may be a good guy or may not be, we have no clue how that is going to end yet. And we have Agatha, Mephisto, and for now we will keep on their side, Quicksilver, all currently playing the villain parts.

Before I proceed further, I just need to touch on my frustration with the aerospace engineer. You can’t do an Office inspired theme song and hint at Reed Richards and not have John freaking Krasinski appear. I refuse to give up hope and thoroughly believe that he will still appear, but Marvel wants to hold their cards for now.

But also going off of the intro, notice how it is only Wanda’s name played over and over again? It almost is like someone is trying to get her attention. It definitely isn’t SWORD. My thoughts? Well, we know that this will set up for Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, so possibly our protector Dr. Strange is trying to break through to Wanda. A lot of magic is happening here to not include him, if you ask me.

This episode was definitely limited on the theories that could come out of it, considering it very much was set up to prepare us for something very big to come. But because of this, it got me thinking about the big villain of the next phases. Now Thanos was great and we definitely didn’t get hints of him until a few movies in, so I don’t necessarily think we will see hints of our new big villain yet. But Mephisto himself has run-ins with just about every big Marvel team-up, including the Fantastic Four, and even has a history with Thanos himself.

As a continuing thought that definitely needed it’s own paragraph, Mephisto makes a deal with Spider-Man in order to save his Aunt May’s life, in which case, part of the deal includes Mephisto erasing the world’s memory of Spider-mans secret identity. Now, I hope you know where this is going, but if not, I got you. At the end of Far From Home, Mysterio (love and hate that dude), exposes Spider-Man as Peter Parker. Everyone’s mouths dropped in this moment, and right now an interesting way to fix this new dilemma is by following this storyline with Mephisto. Is he the new big baddie? We are in our newborn phase of phase 4, so I promise you it is way too early to tell, but it is interesting.

For some history on Mephisto, here’s a video giving a little bit of his past that might help explain some things in the future and get you thinking about where else he might appear.

WandaVision Episode 6

WandaVision

What. The. Fudge.

I wouldn’t say I knew everything that was going on by the end of Episode 5, but I at least was comfortable with the knowledge I DID have. Now I feel like Episode 6 just completely blew everything away and I have absolutely no answers for it.

To start off, let me just say, I was wrong. I will admit it. There is absolutely nothing accurate about the theories I had last week after this newest episode, but I definitely I have a slew of thoughts.

Last week, I was pretty adamant about Agnes being a part of this. This week said ‘sike’ and now we are back to square one. However, she still seemed off in the car and I do not take it as coincidence that she was dressed as a witch for Halloween. She is clearly very aware of what is going on and tried to leave the town, so I am unsure where that leaves us. She simply could still be playing a role very well or she truly has no idea what is going on. Either way, I am totally confused, like I am about many other things from this episode.

I also thought Ralph, Agnes’ husband may have been Mephisto, which would have made a lot of sense if she was playing the character from the comics that everyone assumed she was. However, last week I also said the S.W.O.R.D director seemed off and now my new theory is he is Mephisto. Here’s why. For one, S.W.O.R.D isn’t the first organization that we have seen *cough, cough, Shield* that acts on its’ own accord. What happened to Shield? Well of course we saw Hydra grow within it, therefore we know it is completely possible for these kinds of organizations to be corrupted. Their symbol is a sword, but a sword happens to also look like an upside down cross, a symbol of the devil. Then there’s the fact that he has now kicked the only three characters not completely under his control off of his base. I stand by him being super sketchy, but I have formed a habit of naming people Mephisto and then finding out they aren’t, so I’ll say I’m about 60% in on this theory.

To open the biggest can of worms yet, there’s the problem of Pietro as well. Nothing sits right with this guy, and obviously we are well aware he isn’t our Pietro from the MCU, but it is even more fascinating that all of the characters know as well. They would definitely not just bring Evan Peters in out of the blue unless it was for the multiverse, but his character doesn’t sit right with me at all. Not to mention, at the beginning of the episode we see a recap that includes the scene from Ultron where Wanda’s Pietro is shot and killed. This new Pietro is overly aware, while completely unaware at the same time. They don’t share all the same memories (which should’ve been obvious considering he isn’t from this version of the MCU), yet he knows his death and some other key details only Wanda’s real brother would know. My theory here is that he is the multiverse version and Wanda is able to only control his mind partially, allowing him to know his version’s backstory. However, he likely would not know this information outside of the Hex. Then there’s the whole bullet hole zombie scene that just doesn’t sit right either. And all the times he calls her out for her actions that no one else is aware she is doing, including the whole dead husband issue. He knows so much and almost breaks the wall completely between what the show and Wanda know and what we as an audience know. My best advice is to keep our eyes on him because I think he is more of a key player in what is supposed to be the explosive last few episodes than previously assumed.

Something else to quick touch on is the fact that we are seeing them in the 90s, yet there are clear modern day things going on in the background that show that Wanda is beginning to lose control over everything. For instance, we see a Creeper from Minecraft momentarily on a hat one of the twins are wearing and the movie theater in the background is showing a more recent movie. These small cuts within the Hex are interesting now that Wanda just expanded it.

Cue her becoming more villinous.

She has now sucked more people into it, along with Darcy, showing she is powerful enough to do more. But how much more? Controlling everything is clearly impossible as seen by the people at the edges of the Hex. The new question is how much can Wanda continue to control and exert her power on before something even worse happens?

I’ve been left with a lot of questions and I’m starting to realize this show is less likely to answer them each episode than it is to leave with more. Regardless, I’m excited to see what next week brings. As always, check back next week for my thoughts on that episode and comment your own thoughts down below!

WandaVision Episode 5

WandaVision

I think I state the obvious by saying the entrance of Evan Peters in the most recent episode of WandaVision has officially opened the Multiverse, something us Marvel fans have been waiting for for years.

Does this mean that we are likely going to see Toby Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland all together in the next Spider-man film? Yes.

However, this also means we are likely going to see the end of Wanda Maximoff and the official beginning of Scarlet Witch. One thing I noticed within the last few episodes, with an emphasis on this one especially, is that Wanda is quickly becoming the villain. Now while I love her as much as the rest of us, I think we are most likely going to see her be the villain within the next phase and especially in Doctor Strange: The Multiverse of Madness.

But I am talking about the big picture, let’s discuss some of the smaller points within this episode.

For one, I stand behind the belief that Agnes is definitely helping Wanda with the creation of this town. In fact, I would go as far to say that she may even be the one keeping the entire town under control. Thinking about the scene in which Vision is at his job and he breaks one of his coworkers out of the trance for a moment, he only says that ‘she’ is doing it. Now while this does not mean Wanda might not be responsible, the fact that it is hurting the people who are under the mind control convinces me that it is not Wanda. While she will likely become a villain and is turning there now, I do not think she is the type of villain to hurt innocent people, especially after the Lagos incident. Not to mention, Agnes has broken the script and is always around at a moments notice. She also was the one who exposed Monica as being an outsider.

Moving along with Agnes, I also believe that her husband, Ralph, is likely Mephisto, but that’s a completely other story.

As far as Monica’s character, I like her, but there is definitely something off with her. When the doctors were running the tests on her, she became very weird when she had been told there were issues with her blood and they wanted to redo it. She also had a very strange reaction to the mention of Captain Marvel for someone’s whose mother was her best friend.

The lead FBI agent, Director Hayward, also just gives some really bad vibes. He does a great job at painting Wanda as a villain early on and it definitely isn’t a coincidence that she pointed all of the guns at him and only him. Wanda can get into people’s heads, we can’t forget that.

Tying this back to the possibility that Wanda may not be controlling everyone, notice how in every instance where she puts someone under her control, their eyes usually glow red. Now I’m not saying this is any definitive proof, considering they only glow for so long, but it is an interesting factor.

A final thought: Who is the aerospace engineer mentioned? My thoughts? None other than our soon to be entrances into the MCU: the Fantastic Four, specifically Reed Richards. I am a firm believer that they are the ones who bought Stark Tower and now with their official entrance, it is only a matter of a time before we see them make their first appearance.

I am excited to see where WandaVision Episode 6 takes us, specifically with Evan Peters as Quicksilver now in the mix. Check back next week for my newest thoughts off of that episode! Comment your own thoughts and always feel free to contact me off of my contact page.
