July 2023 Newsletter – 5 Characters Who Could Be Interesting As Skrulls

If you’re not keeping up with some of the latest Marvel content, Secret Invasion has shared a distinctive moment with us that opens a new door for fans to explore, which is: what characters that we know are or could be Skrulls? In the show, the first few minutes of the first episode reveal a character we know to be a Skrull, and it turned into a whole debate on just how long he could have been a Skrull instead of himself. For this list, I won’t be naming powerful heroes only because Secret Invasion has so far shown that Super Skrulls are not on the playing field. That being said, let’s get right into who among our Marvel characters would be an interesting Skrull?

  1. Sharon Carter – Taylor actually mentioned this one in the predictions episode. Sharon came back on the scene during TFAWS, where we learned that she is the Powerbroker. On top of that, by the end of the series, we saw her get reinstated in the CIA. She’s a Carter, and that name carries a lot of weight in the government. Her toeing the line as a high-ranking CIA agent and also being the Powerbroker definitely makes her an interesting target for Skrulls. She has her hands in a lot of places and the Skrulls could benefit from her resources on both ends.
  2. Thaddeus Ross – You might know him as General Ross, but we have gotten confirmation that he will be taking on the presidential role in the next Captain America film. That alone is enough to make him a target for Skrulls, but on top of that, fans believe we aren’t far away from him turning into Red Hulk, as he does in the comics. If this holds up, he could be a very cool Super Skrull.
  3. Valentina – Another pretty obvious one, I mentioned Valentina as one of the characters I believe is a Skrull from the start. Again, she is the head of the CIA and she also has a dark side, putting together her own team of Thunderbolts slowly on the periphery of everything else happening in the MCU. You might be wondering why a Skrull would put together a team of anti-hero Avengers, so let’s pick it apart. Right now, we don’t have an Avengers team formed and there doesn’t appear to be one yet on the horizon. The Thunderbolts would be the first on the field after the Blip and Valentina as a Skrull could use them to do Skrull bidding or purposefully keep them distracted on other things while the Skrulls lurk in other areas.
  4. Agent Cleary – You might be sitting here asking yourself, who the heck is Agent Cleary? He is the male agent we have seen in various Phase 4 pieces, working for the Department of Damage Control. We already very much feel that they as a whole department are pretty suspicious, but it would make a lot of sense to have him be a Skrull. Their entire department is dedicated to finding and ‘locking’ up superheroes or any powerful weapons, which would be a great place for Skrulls looking to expand into Super Skrulls to search. We also saw in the Secret Invasion trailer that the DODC has a briefcase with what seems to be the word Cull on the side, aka Cull Obsidian. We also just confirmed in episode 2 that Cull Obsidian is one of the species the Skrulls are experimenting with in making their Super Skrulls. Coincidence? I think not.
  5. Hank Pym – You might be wondering where in the world I’m getting Hank Pym from. Well, this one comes more from the comics than anything else. Hank, in the comics, is one of the more shocking Skrull reveals that marks a pivotal moment in the Secret Invasion storyline. Leaving Hank out would be a big miss in my opinion for this show/anything else that may come out of it after.

So, there you have it! Those are our top 5 most interesting characters who could come out as being Skrulls. The ending of Secret Invasion the show will either make or break some of these theories, so we will wait it out and see what happens next. More Skulls are on their way, along with more character reveals, so get prepared cause Marvel just blew your mind, so let’s talk about it.
